Simmilar to the neighbor island, Koh Phangan experiences enormous development in tourist arrival numbers and it is known for its every month held infamous Fullmoon Party on Haad Rin bay. Because of its massive party scene some have named Koh Phangan the Ibiza of the east.
Many consider the island is just another place for backpackers or party freaks mainly visiting the island because of the Fullmoon Party on Haad Rin beach. But Phangan is a large island and Fullmoon is only a relative small part of Phangan.
The only exemption from the otherwise relaxing and quite island is the Full moon party when Haad Rin Nok changes to a dance clubs constructed of sand. If you dislike huge party's or very loud music, do not worry on Kohpangan are various peaceful spots, that are not hard to find like National Parks, mountains and waterfalls.
For those of the travelers who find Kho Samui too costly or too much like a big city with too many construction sites, Kho Phangan is the ideal place to experience a relaxed time in Southern Thailand.
Once the Fullmoon Party stoped and another day starts in Had Rin you will be stunned to discover how very much more the island has to show to visitors.
